Autocar review the Z06
Discussion
or alternatively you could click www.autocar.co.uk/ to read the online review......
The first drive wasn't a wholly favourable review, bemoaning the lack of steering feel, and the handling characteristics saying that it goes from understeer to oversteer too quickly. They even mentioned that the engine felt flat until above 4,000 rpm! Yeah, right.
Since the car was only driven on public roads around Nice, I can't see how the author made such judgements on a short test drive. I guess if the author could drive properly, then he wouldn't get over or understeer, this is usually induced by the driver doing something wrong. The fact that the Z06 laps the N-ring so well means that it must handle reasonably well. And when I was driven around the Ascari circuit in the (softer) stock C6, by the FIA series race drivers, I can vouch for the fact that it will drift beautifully and be thrown into corners at any angle - when you know what you are doing. The Z06 will be better yet.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. And Autocar can keep theirs

have you got your Z yet?

Mine took longer than a week to deliver, but that was probably due to the Christmas period slowing things up.
Cheeky, would that be you having 'fun' on a 'Corvette Forum', people are certainly not allowed to criticise the Z over there!
That would indeed be me. They are a bit defensive, aren't they, even when there's no criticism going on! Some of them are bright enough but others...
Have you joined in?
To be honest I am still running it in. The US Forums seem to suggest about 500 miles and as I was not given any definitive instructions, I decided to adopt it also. To date I haven't let it stray too far past 4,000rpm.
This is a return to Vette ownership for me and I am happy with how it drives/rides so far.

Unfortunately it seems you were right - I just got the delivery date, 2nd March 2006.
At least the plate will be an "06", but I'd rather have the car earlier....
waiting sucks!!

Cheer up... at least you won't be waiting 9-10 months like me! And you've only 10 days to go (vs. my 110-120)...
LNRD, since my test drive has been postponed, can you tell me what the red button to the left of the steering wheel is for?

Theres no way I could wait for 9 or 10 months.
I would die scratching my fingernails at the doors of the dealership!
9 days to go...
