Hi All,

Just stumbled across the site and really wish I had found this ages ago - it's fantastic!

Anyway, I am thinking of moving away from TVRs (I have had 4 now) despite loving them, as I want the reliability of a Corvette... not to mention still having the performance on tap!

Can anyone recommend any web reviews of the Corvette C5? If you could provide some good links, it would be really appreciated.

Thanks for all your help - I'm sure I'll post again if I do go buy a C5!

Brooklands Books do a book called Road & Track Corvette portfolio 1997-2002 which is a collection of all the road tests and comparisons. It's $20 in the US. Here, I think it's Mill House Books or something like that who stock them for around £16. A true feast for any Corvette C5 enthusiast.

For the most part you can just google search for reviews and there are plenty. Since there was an interim update to the C5's in 2002 it can be worthwhile shoving 2002 in the search criteria, which gives stuff like this:

This site is also pretty much a bible of all things Corvette:

I have a copy myself and can confirm it's a good recommendation by Lu51fer.

Another book well worth getting for general info about the car is "Corvette C5" by Mike Mueller. It's published by MBI and I see I got mine from Haynes (as in Haynes manuals) at a price of £9.95.

C5 is a great all-round sportscar. Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

I already have the 'Sports car' 'Corvette C5' book from Patrick C Paternie which is fine, but wanted to know what else was out there.

I'll be ordering those two books from Amazon really soon!

Welcome to the Forum. Another TVR convert? - this is becoming a habit.

Whereabouts are you? I'm sure a chat with a local owner would help no end.

I still love TVRs, but have a desire for something a bit more user-friendly with the ability to go wild if wanted. Not that I get much opportunity living in London!

I'm in Hampstead, North West London. A bit far from you, C5RagTop!

I'm going to try and catch the next tunnel run as there seem to be a few Corvettes there, among other things.

Not sure I can qualify for the tunnel run though - since having sold my Tuscan a while ago, I have been 'blasting' through London in my Smart...

I really need to get a 'Vette soon... 0.6 litres to 5.7 might be a bit of a shock to the system!

I live in Woking and work in Ealing (the fire station) if you want to look and talk over a C5, I use mine as a daily driver. If you fancy seeing it over this weekend (evenings) let me know.

Thanks for the offer Colin!

For now, I am just going to be researching Vettes and seeing whether I should go for one, although early indications (particuarly from threads on this forum) are that it would be a great way to spend my money!

I'll take you up on that when I'm actually about to buy, but thanks a lot for the offer!
