New Challenger in Classic American mag

I know, I know. It's neither a Corvette nor even a GM product, but the latest edition of Classic American magazine has a great article on the Challenger concept. Some great pictures including one with an orginal Challenger for reference.

Someone in work made a little poster showing the Challenger concept and below, a Mk3 Cortina in red with white viper stripes (a real shed it was) - and "spot the difference" written between them. Hate to say it, but there were definate similarities - coke bottle styling of course - I absolutely love the Challenger, both old and new. But then I quite like the Mk3 Cortina as well 

Yep, there is a similarity, but then the Mk3 was the best looker in my opinion

Only downside to the Classic American article is talk of a diesel version! Purleeeeze! V8 or nothing, I say.

But then the Mk III was a blatant copy of American muscle car design just as the Capri was a blatant copy of the American pony cars.
By 1971 when the Mk III was introduced, the coke bottle shape was pretty old hat and Vauxhall ditched it in 1971 with the Viva HC and the 1973 Transcontinental Victor FE's which were again American influenced. It's never been really clear to me why Ford stuck with it until 1978 when the whole world was moving on to cleaner shapes. It was still a best seller but there were so many cars that aped American design at that time - nearly all Japanese designs were small versions of some American design or other.

No. I bought the Stang slightly used and thereby saved £7000 and then had the blower fitted by the UK agent, NS Racing in Edgware for £4500. This was for the top of the line chargecooled version in polished finish with 462bhp but they do (a) a cheaper satin finish and (b) a non-chargecooled 420bhp version. Like any deal, it's swings and roundabouts. I sold my Corvette Z06 cheaper than I would have because the Mustangs are now widely available on ebay for under £20k. One guy has just bagged a new Saleen for £25k, the lucky blighter.
The blown Saleens tend to be expensive which is why I went the route I did and I've spent about £5k on parts to uprate the suspension, exhaust and so forth. It's been an exhausting experience too and another reason why a ready-made Saleen is a good idea.

I am seriously looking to sell the F150 then get a Mustang. As I want to put it through the business, I need to have one already tuned etc which is why I am looking for a Saleen or may wait for the GT500.
Gotta sell the truck first though....
Although the Challenger in Classic American mag does look nice..; )
