OK so some prat reversed into my parked C5. Fortunately he left his details at the hotel reception so good on him. What first of all look like scuffs on the nose cone that maybe I could polish out, in fact on inspection needs a new nose cone and new wing (confirmed by the insurance surveyor). So where to go? On the basis that it is unbolt the panels and bolt on new ones (is it??) I guess any compentent shop that is capable of spraying plastice panels, or are they fibreglass still, can do it. I fancy either Mechspray in Chatham - Vette people but a long long way to go, or trying Westover, they sell Lotus so clealry handle fibreglass and their bodyshop did an OK job on my Fiat Coupe a few years back. Alternatively there is the up market place in Lyndhurst that sells Ferraris Massers etc. But I welcome any recommendation or indeed comment on whether I should be using someone with Vette experience on this.

Nick's no longer a Vette owner! He sold his C4 sometime back and now lives in Ireland!

Still has 2 X Caddy's/Lincolns (can't remember which)

Removing the nose takes about 45 minutes and the front wing about 20 minutes.

What colour is the car as don't forget that Millenium Yellow has a yellow tint as well as the yellow base and unless they apply both you won't match the existing paint.

I have removed the nose from my Z06 on my own and it is very very simple, have never done a front wing but I know where all of the bolts are and it is very simple by the looks of it.

If you are getting new parts then talk to Ericthebrave about importing them from the US. if doing it yourself. If it's going thru insurance then they will supply the parts from the GM central European warehouse in the Netherlands.

Pete - bad news, but if you need any help, let me know (I'm quite adept with the old hammer and screwdriver). The guy who did my bonnet shares a unit with a sprayer in Poole (next door to Adetuno). They did my mirror with the correct paint, so I'm sure they could help you out.

I have done a lot of work in and around berrylands and New Nick before I had a corvette, he was very popular with some of his nabours for parking cars with taprs on them for months at a time – lovely bloke gave me some good tips when I had the lincon and think he still owns the house here so he might come back yet.

It's am insurance job Nigel. I had assumed I would tell them to call B&M. Are you suggesting they should call Cadillac direct?

Hi all,

Hi Sam, Tris, Francis. Tris shot me the link and decided to sign up and post a reply!

Yes Eric's a star. He's particularly good at matching up colour [color?] on reds and yellow. Did my yellow '79 caddy with original slightly faded paint in a couple of places and you just cannot tell where he started and stopped.

Cheers all!

Nick

Crikey Nick! I've got a letter here I wrote for you (but have been particularly bad at putting stamps on it and sending it to you!)

Does you have an available email address - I've only got your addresses for here and I think Ireland,

Hope all is well, certainly looks it from your update in December!

All the best

Francis

PS Any chance of you showing up at any mainland UK shows this year?
