Scumbags! C5 window glass?
Discussion
Hi all,
On my way home now but it seems some Toerag took it upon themselves to smash the passenger side window on my C5 today. Think they were after the Sat Nav, which wasn't in the car, but the cradle was). Anyway, the car is secured and some friends have been to look at it and there is no other damage (scratches or anything) so all I need to do is get a new window fitted.
Sounds easy doesn't it? I'm fully expecting it not to be...
Please can anyone help me by:
a) telling me where I can get a window from (the quicker the better obviously)
b) estimate as to how much it's going to cost me
c) recommending a window fitting company that will take care of my car
Thanks, as ever,
Chris

Autoglass or the RAC copy. Had my Mazda done at Euston station when the car was new. I took it to RAC windscreens in Strood. It was covered on insurance with £50 access and it didn't affect the NCB. Took it down the following day and they cleaned out the glass (which you will never get rid of 100%), measued, cut and fitted a perspex window and sealed it. That weather sealed and secured the car while they ordered in the window. It was a new model so they had to order the glass in. When it was in I went back and they fitted. No paperwork or anything - they dealt with the insurance - top job
I also had them repair some chips on the vette's screen a year earlier and again a topjob
Sorry to hear about that though mate. Double check around the edge of the frame for damage. They use a flat screwdriver to break the glass by squeezing it by the edge of the glass (its weakest point) and twisting. I have a slight nick on the Mazda's frame still from that. Time to start hiding the cradle as well - what apita

RAC Autoglass did the screen on the C4 (never offically imported) but it took them a couple of weeks to find the glass....only cost £50 excess on the insurance.
As the C5 was an official UK car you should be able to get glass easier.......as long as your car is an official UK car.....if not the glass may not match!

Wouldnt bet on the RAC gettign glass for a C5 eaisyer because its an official import. They still imported a screen for the camaro rather than sourcing through vauxhall and the europeand parts bin. Took a few weeks and arrived scratched so took a few weeks longer to get another one. Still only cost £50 though although the insurance company picked up a tab for about £900 IIRC.
It's a bit of a joke really. My insurance company (A Flux) use Autoglass so that's who is sorting it. However they can't get hold of a window until perhaps the 15th May. Was originally told it would be wednesday this week (3rd).
I know (from this forum) that people could supply a window much sooner than that but I don't see what I can do about it. Autoglass won't consider using a different supplier but in the mean time i can't use my car!
Customer Service - bol***ks.
