Had my first chance to get to know every feature today as well as enjoying my first roof on / roof off comparison.

Excellent day all-round, but a couple of minor hiccups.

1) Seat memory seems to not want to play ball.
Easy access on the options is ON and all other features of the memory pack seem to be fine, but the seat doesn't move unless I move it?

Any ideas / cures?

2) The multi CD player's disc holder doesn't eject when I slide the 'open' door along. I can hear it trying to do something, but again..

Any ideas / cures?

Aside from these, what a wonderful day getting to know the car.

Do you mean you have to move the seat etc or just press the memory button? if the latter do you have a euro model as it has the upgraded alarm which uses different key fobs which aren’t individually coded so the seat doesn’t automatically go to the keys' position when the key is put in the ignition like its supposed to. You have to press your seat position number instead, still puts the seat back when you pull the key though.

Hi Dave

Mine is a Euro 99 model.
Not with you when you say I have to press my seat position number?

Currently the seat doesn't do anything if I press memory 1 or 2 or if I take the key out.

No idea on the Multi-player CD but on the seat memory, are you saying when you take the key out the seat doesn't move all the way back? Regarding the memory 1 and 2 positions, assuming memory 1 is your positions, you probably need to clear any stored settings (no idea how but the manual should tell you). Then you need to get the seat and mirrors to your position and then press and hold the memory 1 button until the light flashes which should mean the settings are saved.

Hope this helps.

The 'Easy Access' option moves the seat all the way back. If you've already got it set there, it won't move (or am I stating the obvious?). Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies, but the seat is not doing anything.

I set a position with 'memory 1' and a different with 'memory 2'
I also move things like the heating / wing mirrors and even radio stations so that
memory 1 & 2 are different.

All changes take place when I touch Memory 1 or 2, but the seat doesn't respond.

Nor does it move all the way back when I take the key out - which it should with
'Easy Entry' turned on in 'Options'.

CD multi-changer. If it's the 12 disc original equipment changer then it works like a toaster. When you put the CD magazine into the changer it drops about half way and stops. Then you have to press it down the rest of the way against a spring and it latches down when in position.

When you slide open the door to eject the magazine two things should happen,
First there is a whirring and some gentle clicking as the changer loads into the magazine the CD which was last being played.
Then there should be a louder click and the magazine pops half way out like a toaster.

It sounds as though your changer is failing to make the second step so probably (assuming you're sliding the door all the way open and the magazine isn't getting caught against it) the solenoid or whatever releases the spring is either not working at all or is getting stuck.

You could try pushing the magazine IN very slightly (after sliding open the door and while the whirring is going on) to see if that enables a stuck locking mechanism to release at the appropriate point in the cycle. A bit of jiggling might help if it still doesn't pop out. If that doesn't work it's probably time for a new changer.

C5 CD-CHANGER HINTS AND TIPS

1. If you play home recorded CDs (CD-R) the playback quality is poor, sounding like a worn vinyl record with too much surface noise. Took me a long time to figure out it was only CD-Rs that have this problem as they play fine in my older cars and players but not in the Vette!

2. When you load the 12-disc CD magazine the changer immediately shuffles through the discs (even with the ignition off) to check it is happy with them. This takes a few minutes. If you jump in and start the car while the changer is still going through this routine it gets in a muddle and refuses to accept it's got any CDs loaded. So you have to get out the car, eject the CD magazine and then re-insert it. And if you've turned the engine off you'll have to wait a few minutes for it to settle down before starting the engine again - so best to leave it running!

3. The discs need to be loaded in the magazine trays face down. This drives me crazy as every other car magazine we own or have ever owned takes them face up and I tend to forget.....

4. If I had to buy a new changer I'd be tempted to change the whole sound system. The Bose is OK (to be fair it's better than OK) but hardly state-of-the-art. The advantages of a change would include RDS radio as well as better sound and the ability to play CD-Rs.

I'm probably stating the obvious but have you checked the fuse?

There is a fuse for the driver seat control module and a circuit breaker in the instrument panel fuse box.

Finally the following extract may help if you haven't got one.

If you need a manual, I have a pdf file for a 2002 manual I can send you.

Memory (Option)
MEMORY can store and recall the settings for the
driver’s seat position, the outside rearview mirror
positions, telescopic steering column (if equipped),
radio presets, tone, volume, playback mode (AM/FM,
tape or CD), last displayed station, compact disc position
and tape direction and the last climate control setting.
The MEMORY buttons are located on the driver’s
door, above the power mirror controls. The MEMORY
buttons can store and recall settings for up to three
drivers. Use button 1 to store the settings for the first
driver, button 2 for a second driver or press buttons
1 and 2 at the same time for a third driver. To store
your memory settings:
1. Adjust your settings for the driver’s seat position,
outside rearview mirror positions, and telescopic
steering wheel (if equipped).
2. Press and hold a MEMORY button. The light
above the MEMORY button will glow steady for
one second and then flash once when the settings
are complete. Then the light will go off.
3. Set the climate control temperature, fan speed and
mode settings, radio presets, tone, volume, playback
mode (AM/FM, tape or CD), tape direction and
compact disc position.
Your memory settings are now programmed.
Any changes that are made to the audio system and
climate controls while driving will be automatically
stored when the ignition key is turned off.

When first entering your vehicle, after pressing the
unlock button on your remote keyless entry transmitter
or a MEMORY button, a recall of your settings will
occur when the door is closed and the ignition key is in
the ignition switch. As the memory settings are recalled,
the light above the button will flash until the correct
settings are achieved, then glow for five seconds
when complete.
A memory recall can be stopped by pressing any
memory seat, mirror or steering column position button.
Drivers 1, 2 and 3 correspond to the order in which your
remote keyless entry transmitters were programmed.
See “Fob Training” in the Index for more information.
Memory recall will not work if the vehicle is moving.
Memory recall will be temporarily interrupted during
engine crank.

Just to let everyone know - should it occur to you...turned out to be a faulty seat module,
but as for the multiplayer - no idea.

True star that he has been in every aspect Chris Graham Corvettes just changed both for me for new ones.

Now that's great after sales service!

PS - Yes, GCerbera = Cuban (which is what most people call me anyway!)
