19" rears in the UK
Discussion
Just had an "interesting" time trying to pick up a set of rears for my vette. 295/35x19 - sounds easy enough.
Had Yokos all round but recently switched the fronts onto Eagle F1 275/35x18 - they are a bit softer rubber and the turn in is improved. Would expect the rears to allow the grip to come in more progressively. Fronts were easy to get at Micheldever for 150 quid a corner. Cannot get the F1's in 19s anywhere though....
North Hants would need to import, Micheldever got me a pair of Yokos in today.... for 300quid a corner! Blackcircles, 310quid etc etc.... Really need to get them on this week as I have had the traction control off a bit lately
So off to Micheldever now to empty my bank account. Anyone thinking of upgrading to the 12"x19" Z06 wheels remember this little story. You are just about to double the price of your rear tyres!
By the way, Saw a gorgeous black C3 in Basingstoke last night - anyone on here? And on my travels I met Cliff at last - wot a nice bloke, looking forward to seeing him again Sunday. I mentioned it to my daughter (who waved to him the other day thinking it was me) who said "yeah, everyone knows Cliff".
So, my question is, what are you doing to allow lots of 19-21year old blondes to know you Cliff???? I'm impressed, do you have the formula?

Thanks for the reviews Kev ,i owe you a tenner hehe,i even had a couple of 19 year olds stop me and take photos and then video me going down the road the other day,i think its the car though
.
Me and the other guys all agreed how sharp you car looked and sounded, funny thing is they said the same as your daughter and thought your car looked like mine...i suppose to the untrained eye people see some vettes as similar
I think i saw the same C3 parked up behind a house in the town,if i see it again ile put our site adress on a card on his windscreen.
See you sunday.

Yeah Lusifer - and I was working in Florida last week as well - "any excess baggage sir?"!
But, they were just setting me up for a bargain at Micheldever. I booked in as advised to one of their "Premium" bays (avoid the queue) as they said I have a prestige car.... perhaps that answers Cliff's question about whether the Vette is a supercar - so sir, it's a prestige car. Cor I can park it next to my bank managers Bentley now. fnaar fnaar! Anyway, I said "they must be havin a
larf it's only me little Vette" but they were adamant. This service is free of charge.
So, between 2 and 3pm, they took off all the wheels, cleaned them inside and out, fitted a new valve (free of charge) to the n/s front as it was leaking a bit and they only fitted fronts a month or so ago, fitted the new tyres treated the walls of all 4 tyres... and the breakdown of costs:
Tyres, fitting and balancing - 473.63
Gordon Brown - 82.88
total - 556.50 - so even with their free premier service, the tyres were still a lot under UK based internet prices. Oh yes, plus a drink to the fitter!
I'm almost happy about it - well apart from Gordon Brown's bit!

I have very good tyres sources in USA and can import monthly - I also can get a good selection of chrome wheels for c4 c5 and c6 with various offsets. let me know specoifi tyres needs ands I will search. - if I cant get em I will tell you rather than string anyone along. The most important thing to remeber when changoong wheel/tyres sizes is to make sure the rolling diameter is similar otherwise the sensors get all the speeds wrong and your axle ratio will change too
Thanks for your kind offer, but I have sorted it now. It was something I needed pretty quick, hence I sourced them in the UK via Micheldever.
Although I can get things overnighted form the USA, courier costs are ourageous and then there's the dreaded vatman a few days later which can make tyres pretty expensive to ship. I appreciate the offer - and welcome to the forum by the way.
