Cracking insurance quote !!
Discussion
With my insurance renewal just through, I thought it was time to hit the phones. My current insurance is with Classicline but having changed from the TVR to the C4 vette a few weeks ago, their renewal seemed a bit high at £314 comp for 5K mileage per year.
Anyway, after many calls I thought I'd try A-Plan as they advertise on here. Upshot is a quote of £ 200 comp with the same 5K mileage per year and only £100 excess. I must admit to being an old git (mid 40's) at this point, but even so I thought this was a cracking deal. Has anyone else dealt with them? Any problems?

Don't forget to try Stevenage too.
Definately - I'm with them and pay £349 on a 2004 Convertible. Unlimited Mileage. Fully Comp. Old codger driving with no motoring convictions (but I'm working on it) and no prangs. Main benefit is that they do not require a Thatcham alarm plus they answer the phone when you ring them, plus their phones aren't in India, plus they are helpful.

Bloody outrageous quote for me though : 5K miles p/ann on '95 Camaro Z28, lowered, 18's, aftermarket rear spoiler, race stripes - Flux got it down to £255 for me and the Missus including protected NCB. This was after A-Plan quoted £259. They nearly got my business as I called them back at 5:10 PM to accept the quote ,but they were closed
, so I gave Flux a chance. The real point ? Stevenage wanted £428 for basic comp
- by far the stupidest quote I had, so I won't bother with them in the future. Reading other posts, I suspect they might be OK if you haven't made any big visual mods - but come on: wheels, stripes, spoiler, lowered - hardly OTT is it ?yellowvette said:I've come accross this before. When pressed the insurance company said their statistics show that people who modify their cars tend to have more accidents, however trivial the modification and even if purely cosmetic. It's definitely an area where you need to shop around as some insurers are much harsher than others.

Mines with mce, tho was with flux when 1st got it, 3k miles a year, £512 but was only 23 at the time, now a few days away from turning 30, awaiting my renewal, mce last year was 310 - car is an 84 with the crossfire so with a bit of luck it`ll be down even lower, interestingly enough, HHH used to have my business, but the cheap underwriter left UK market, but when I was 25 and 26 I had it for 198 fully comp for 3 k miles per anum now that was a real bargain
