Hi All...

I'm waiting impatiently for my new Black C6 Z06

I keep reading that the stock gear shifter is crap and that you should upgrade to a Hurst Shifter ??

So, where do I get one and can anyone recommend someone to fit it for me ?

Welcome Eric (theres a viking round here with nearly the same name )

This ones B&M but ive heard they are not as good as Hurst.
http://search.ebay.com/shifters-corve

Try mailing this dealer, ive noticed he deals a lot of Hurst parts.

I had a Breathless shifter on my C5 Z06 from Corvettes Of Houston. I chose it over the others as it doesn't have lock-nut adjusters, you just bolt it on.

You must be Eric the Cowardy-custard as we already have an EricTheBrave!

Fitted a BreathelessPerformance shifter to my C5 Z06 myself as it took about 45 minutes from start to finish and a minimum of tools. I found some instructions on the interweb for fitting it along with great pictures so I used that as the kit was supplied with minimal instructions.

V7TTE got a shifter for his C5 and it was mega cheap but dunno if his supplier is doing a C6 Z06 one yet.

www.westcoastcorvette.com
www.lgmotorsports.com
www.xmsengineering.com
www.corvettegarage.com

Are all suppliers I have used in the past couple of years for getting parts and all are good. West Coast are the best regarding shift delivery.

I'm also curious to know what most people are doing, importing or via Stratstone?
Pros vs cons?

Hi all,

I've orderd my C6 Z06 through 'American Carriage Company' in Barnes. Estimated arrival date July.

www.americancarriage.co.uk

4 Castelnau
Barnes
London
SW13 9RU

Tel: 020 8834 7221.

I've no idea if they are any good. Lots of promises about after sales service blah blah

Anyone else on here ordered or had any dealings with them ???

Eric

Yo Erik!

Not sure if I need to be threatened by your arrival???

Perhaps we should start our own forum for Vette owning people called Eric(k) or Steve...

Sadly useless there best assett was the service mgr who was excellent now he has gone solo Trading Ian Goss Services 0208 391 9090. American cariiage worked out to be £3000 cheaper then stratstone for me but I bought from Stratstone for the extra 3k I got euro spec with full spec car 3 year warranty & AA cover & the car has everything includeing SAT NAV the American carriage car they were going to sell me was a basic without heads up!
& remember the Stratstone cars have the correct lights check out the poor SVA work done by American carriage the best I have have seen is by Ian Goss whio odes a great job on the C6!

The HUD's standard even on the US car, AFAIK.

Congrats 888usa; when did you order, when's it due and what colour is it?

(September/June/LMB for me)

Congrats Erik, welcome to the club (of Black C6 Z06s), they look superb, for at least minutes after the hours of cleaning :-)

Looks like there will be a handful of Zs out there soon.

mmm rather worrying comments !!! I've half a mind to call them and cancel the order :-( or do you think I should just check everything out and make sure the job is done properly?? Trouble is I don't want to wait even longer by ordering from somewhere else.

Hehe, yeah I know what you mean I have a black car now, doesn't stay clean for long. However, Vettes look so damn menacing and cool in black I've just gotta get one. Then make sure I've got plenty of sponges and wax :-)

Just to whet your appetite........

......one I saw in Houston a couple of weeks ago.

Having owned a Black C4 and previously a Black Saab I would never own a black car again no matter how good they looked unless they came with a valet!

This might also be of interest to you.........
German website advertising a new C6 Z06 for €69,900 plus importation costs.
www.mobile.de/SIDIRN-5hum9Gl9trxWMIMiHQ-t-vaNexlCsAsCsK%F3P%F3R~BmSB11LsearchPublicJ1148541758A2LsearchPublicD1100CCarW-t-vctpLtt~BmPA1A1B20A6%81a-t-vCaMiMkMoQuSeUnVb_X_Y_x_ygesO~BSRA6D1100A5D6325CZ06BGNCPKWA0HinPublicA2A0A0A0NSchaltgetriebeA0/cgi-bin/da.pl?bereich=pkw&sprache=2&sr_qual=GN&top=1&id=11111111200237649&

My maths:

€69,900 / 1.41 = £49,638
+ 30% approx = £65,000 on the road in the UK but without the warranty.

Various other new C6 Z06's for sale on the same site and most come with the warranty and are about €85,000 / 1.41 = £60,283 I would check they are European cars not imports (this would invalidate the GM warranty) but if they are buying from Germany would be a great idea or even better France as it's nearer!

C5RagTop bought his C5 from a German dealer so speak to him as they may well be selling C6's.

Yeah Black cars are a pain to keep clean but luckily for me I have a guy that comes round to clean my cars so that's not my problem hehe

Hey ... Stop showing me pictures of Black Z06's or I'll go out of my mind

Still, at least I've got my other baby the 74 C3 (Blue) to keep that Vette Smile on my face Oh, and before anyone asks NO I'm never selling my C3. If anyone has a C3 by the way, drop a ZZ4 350hp lump in and she'll go like a rocket ...

Hi Mate,

Thanks for all the info I'll use this for ammunition

mmm the light modification is very worrying Maybe I get them NOT to do the work, just deliver the car. I could get servicing done elsewhere too.

Anything else should I know ???

What you save with American carrriage up front you loose long term! They do sell a base model In the states wwith no HUD. Rememeber resale when you go to sell your imported vet the lights they do in American carriage are very poor On a Mustang they had the side repeaters were fitted higher on one side than the other!!! They farm out there SVA work as well. They have no one in Service with any Knowledge. They say the cars come with 3 years aftermarket warranty when they told me the price of the car Iwas told it would be supplied with only 1 year warranty!!Very sly You do get what you pay for also the radio will not work properly over here! Good Luck

Are you Ian Goss' mate by any chance?

I have no interest in helping American Carriage Co BTW but it may be worth Erik doing some cross-checks either way.

Must admit that, when I looked into the possibility of getting an import to save waiting the 9 (8 so far) months that I have been, ACC didn't come across as friendly and were a bit "£XXk, take it or leave it" on price, at a much higher level than seemed reasonable, while Peter in Gloucester was both friendly and much cheaper, and the Scots guy in Luton was friendly and helpful, with a price somewhere between the two.
