C5 body repair update
Discussion
Hooray, finally picked up the car from Mechspray. There was a delay because they had a nosecone in stock but when they came to try it on it had been warped in transit so they had to order another one. So I have new and reprayed nosecone and wing. repsrayed headlight covers. I payed to have the bonnet resprayed and they blended in the other wing, so I have completely resprayed front, very nice.. Everything fits snugly and up to normal Mech Spray standard.
FYI Wayne told me that for black cars they always use Autoglym Superglym as the wax/glaze. The best product they have found for black cars, so off to the local motor factors tomorrow!
The bummer was they closed the M25 at J8-10 at lunctime due to lorry fire so it only took me 6hours and 10 minutes to get back to Poole

Hey,
I collected my blue '76 from Mech-Spray on Friday as well, but I think you were before me in the queue. I didn't notice yours over there at 1pm.
I was over there when they were dismantling your car the week before last - while they had the bumper off they pulled out the build sheet from the front chassis cross-member. They told me that all C5s have a build sheet rolled up and shoved down that cross-member. Did you know that the factory did this? I've been meaning to put a post on the CCCUK forums for the C5 owners but haven't got around to it yet.
Sorry to hear you got stuck in that traffic jam. I drove over to MS past it on the anti-clockwise carriageway so I saw how bad it was. Didn't look good.
Saw a white '70/'72 Vette in the queue too.

Just got back from le Mans. Nope I left before 1pm but not much before, shame I missed you. Build sheet eh - did they put it back? No-one said anything to me, had better call them tomorrow
Was that the blue one with the white stripes? If so I thought it looked cool

Thanks, yeah - that's mine. I'm still bolting bits back on to it before the Nationals.
MechSpray rolled up the bit of paper and shoved it back down the chassis tube. Probably the safest place for it - it's dry and won't be disturbed except in a crash.
I guess it's the modern equivalent of the tank sticker.
