C5 Spark Plug tip
Discussion
After 32k miles I decided to replace the plugs on the C5. Very awkward, especially #7 on the left bank. Spoke to a snap-on van chap, and they have a special double u/j plug socket just for the job. Part number S9721A if anyones interested. Makes the whole process very simple indeed. It is a nice snug fit on the plug body, so you dont snap the insulator when turning at high angles. I'm very glad I took them out. One was gapped at 25thou, (probably got dinged at the factory) and a couple had lost the platinum pads. So much for 100k mile plug service interval!! Have replaced them with NGK TR55-IX iridium parts, with a noticeable improvement in idle quality. Also changed the wires for Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro silicon ones which are cheaper than stock wires. Nothing wrong with the original wires, just the red ones look really cool. I'd suggest anyone with a LS-1 check out the plugs if you havent already done so, just to be sure.

I've heard that no.7 is a pain to get out and hear many stories of missing pucks. Did you buy the plugs in the UK ?
I'm almost certain the ones I took out were the factory fit items. The Iridiums were sent to me by a pal in North Carolina, think he gets them from Summit, at jobber rate. $40 for 8
However, Paul at Wortec supplied me a set for the Monaro, somewhat dearer of course.
