'84 C4 drivers side wing mirror needed
Discussion
Just on the off-chance that someone has something lying in their garage they wouldn't mind selling...
My boyfriend is after a replacement mirror glass with the plastic backing for driver's side exterior mirror. The car is an '84 and although the shape and housing are the same for '84 through to '94 it appears the mounting position for the motor on the back of the '84 mirror is at 90 degrees to the rest of the C4 decade.
So either after a replacement glass with backing that is definitely off an '84 or the entire mirror, motor and housing (in black) off any '84-'94. If anyone can help either with the part or with a new direction to pursue I'd hugely appreciate it.

Thanks for that Cliff. Keith has already tried to help - we have a later ('85-'87) part supplied by him here on the kitchen counter and are wondering if we can fabricate something to make it fit.
We've also just found a a guy in Fort Lauderdale, Art's Parts, who has been great but we were hoping to get the mirror sorted in time for the Car Parade in London on Sunday. Car looks awful with the big gaping hole!

Be careful of part sform sopme of USA guys - they dont always describe things properly and once its here your stuck with it.
I am still looking for a 84 mirror for you but they seem rare

As a stop gap, Halfords used to do (and I'm sure if they don't a local Auto parts place will have) a 'universal mirror.' It was a self adhesive perspex mirror you could cut to shape with a coping saw. Although mostly designed to stick over broken mirror glass, it will stick on anything and is slef supporting, so might plug the hole in an emergency...
Aren't there a few pairs of later mirrors complete that would bolt in place out there? Try back of Classic American - I'm sure there was a guy claiming to be breaking a couple of LT1's in Lincolnshire, although I can't vouch that they'd be an identical fit!
