Hi guys - well I have owned Callaways now for over 15 years - interesting cars - eh malc ???
I have my 34k miles 87 Callaway for sale could be bought for a LOT less than the 91
when they go THEY GO - - wow - but in all honesty the new C6 (non Z06) is faster, better, smoother and probably uses a lot less petrol -
How times move on.............................

Now thats a nice car,i delivered it when it was brand new to David Lloyd the x tennis player. When i worked for ACC, what a blast in the past.
Are you sure that's the David Lloyd car? I photographed (supposedly) the Dvid Lloyd car for Classic American a few years ago after it had been purchased by a trader to be sold on.
Not only did it have a different number plate (H*** CMT from memory though that could be changed) but it also had more than 50,000 miles and this one is being sold with quite a few miles less...
Apparently David Lloyd and his brother (if he has one) bought identical Callaways at the same time...
P.S. I'll dig out the photos from the session though they are on transparency film (shock no affordable digital SLRs then!)

Hi Keith, I guess you have to remember that in the Eighties Corvettes standard only came with lame sounding power outputs (230HP in 1985 rising to 250HP {wow) in 1991) so the Callaway's 390/400+ was sensational for the time, especially as it was REAL BHP as opposed to some of the made up horsepower figures of the 60s and 70s.
Even 230 HP did the business though for a slimmed down, aerodynamic c4.
You're right about the fuel: Callaway's use of an amazingly inefficient 7:1 compression ration to accomodate the turbos gave rise to a deficit in fuel consumption. Though still no doubt better than earlier cars I really noticed a big (probably 20-25%) lower MPG return compared to my 1993 LT1 auto...
Malc
Is 200mph stretching it a bit though - most early ones were quoted 170-175mph, later Euro ones were 190, wouldn't 200mph be a little more obvious in spec?
Very quick though - tried Malcs just before he sold it - and Gixer still tells me I should have had it...
True answer is you should have kept it Malc - hurry up and get another!

When david, had the car it had 75 LYD on it,he choped it for a ferrari,ACC [amaerican car centre ,not the later ACC] brought it in the trade, then a gentleman called David Bell brought it around 1993,very rarely used it,it was offerd to me for sale a few weeks ago, it needed a new feul tank at the time.

Hi, see performance specs on my website: www.mm2000.co.uk/corvette Top end was quoted by Callaway at 191.5 mph and I still have a magazine where they achieved 193 mph on a German autobahn in an '88 Euro spec model.
I'll check the number on the car I photographed. I suspect it was in fact a different car to the one Claremont now has though it was the same colour.
