2 Black Beasts Come Face to Face
Discussion
Well I got the black Z06 today and boy what a car. It really is a beast, trying not to jump to 50mph from the lights at warp 6 in first gear was the immediate challenge. It feels like an angry demon begging to be unleashed. I have to keep saying in my head over and over "running in, running in, be patient keep the speed down". What on earth all the fuss was about on the reviews about a hard ride I'll never know, seemed 'smooth as' to me. With the exhaust butterfly valve fuse pulled out the increased roar was just music to my ears...
Anyway, there I was, thinking of somewhere to go to clock up the 'run in' miles and I remembered 'Lightwater' that's where some of the 'Vette boys' on here hang out. So, off I go for a little cruise on the off-chance. As soon as I get to a roundabout in Lightwater I cannot believe my eyes, a new black Z06 crosses right in front of me. I mean really, what are the chances of that ??? So of course, I gave chase and caught up with who I now know to be Godzilla (Dave) as he turned into a garage to fill up. Believe me 2 black Zeds side by side looks seriously cool
So, to cut a long story short, it was back to Dave's for a cuppa and a quick photo shoot. Hopefully Dave will get the pics up on here so you can see them.
Well anyway, I'll be getting no sleep tonight as I just want to get back in the cockpit of the beast a.s.a.p. I can't believe my little run out today clocked up 180 miles, crikey I didn't go anywhere .... I seriously love this car, it's awesome !!
Very nice to meet you by the way Dave and thanks for the cuppa
Eric

Disappointed in you Erik! 180 - I'd have driven it to at least Scotland and back on the first day!
Seriously, glad you had a great run out and indeed, what are the odds to 'bump' into David!
There is me having never even seen a ZO6 on the road (well, not counting one on an opposite
carriageway in France) and you spot one on your first run!
Looking forward to the photos.

Hi Eric, yeah you gave me the shock of my life as I got out of the car to fill up and saw another Z06 inches behind me! eek! How long had you been behind me then? My observation skills need a brush up!
It was fun playing "spot the difference" between a US car and a Euro/UK one.
My pleasure about the coffee!
Cuban, you said that pics need to be hosted and you had space available, can you email me details please?
I don't think I have any non-password protected web pic hosting.

Nice one! Give me a shout next time there's a black Z06 owner's club meet
Godzilla, no front plate? That will attract 'unwanted' attention before too long, I would have thought.

I drove my 1990 L98 for 2 years with no front plate. I just left the front plate casually laid on the dashboard whilst parked and that was in Central London every day!
But agreed that I may be less likely to get away with it nowadays so when my car gets UK registered next week it will have a smaller front plate mounted on the front left, Alfa style.
BTW, come along to the Fairmile Car Club BBQ and we can make it three Black Devils in a row!

Hi Dave, yeah I followed you from the roundabout, I think you were too busy posing to notice me
Glad you managed to get the pictures up on the site they look cool. However, as you know, the beasts look even better in the flesh.
Yes let's get together along with lnrd for a photo shoot of the 3 Black Devils in a row. Find a location with a nice uncluttered background.
I went out for a drive today (obviously), what a nightmare it absolutely hammered down with rain, bloody typical now I've got the ZED. I'm so particular with my C3, a speck of rain and I'm freaked out. I guess the ZED won't mind a little water, for now anyway.
So, what's next on the agenda? Import some performance goodies together and save on the postage. Let's get these beasts over 600 horses
Just gotta figure out who will do the work ??
God, I really must try and get this silly grin off my face
before it becomes permanent ..

Hi Cuban,
Yeah I know only 180 miles on the first day, amazing thing is most of that was round London on a Saturday stuck in traffic jams. Oh the joy of the open road in good old England .... hehe
BLACK IS BOSS!
Just posted this infantile but oh so true statement and then started to actually read back through the thread. I am usually on the Ultima forum but as my car is also black, felt it was only right to make said statement (as if anyone needed telling?). Anyhoo, to the point, my motor was built by Peter Knight of Daventry: 01327-871177 and I happen to know that he has recently had an LS7 motor on the dyno and made some interesting finds. Give him a call, he is not cheap but then quality results never are.

Hi Wayne, thanks for the info, much appreciated. Perhaps we should get together and take a pic with your Ultima flanked by 2 black Z06s..

Dave, now that you know how to, PLEASE can you get the black and blue photos from Bisley up?
Sent them yesterday. But got the same error message as before and trying to forward the message results in Outlook crashing!
Photos arrived and links will be back with you later today (up in Scotland now).
Cheers David.

I will have to take a rain check on that one for the moment as the car is having some major body mods carried out but would love to do something like that (I was actually fantasizing about that as I was posting above blurb)in the future, I will let you know by posting here again. On a separate note, I went to Shoreham Airport for the drag racing organised by Mike a couple of months ago and had a great time.I asked if I can bring my Ultima next year and so have that pencilled in already.
