I've recently picked up a copy of a book by Richard Newton "C5 Performance Projects". Essential reading for every C5 owner. The title is misleading as at least half the book is about those routine maintenance jobs on the C5 you weren't quite sure about. It covers all the engine, transmission, brakes and suspension questions that come up over and over again on the forums. The "performance project" element covers most of the usual upgrades including exhaust, short-throw shifter, sway-bars etc.

Lots of sensible guidance of the "if it aint broke, don't fix it "variety. Includes things like the Bose stereo isn't very wonderful but there's no simple improvements. Also highlights the cooling problems which are almost certain to arise from engine mod's.

I paid $20 in a US bookstore for it and am well pleased. Amazon UK are selling it new for £8.50 and have second hand copies from £7. Absolute bargain! (Pick up a Black Book as well and you'll get free delivery)

Looks like a great book! I have the complete workshop manual for mine but at 3 telephone directories in size is not the easiest book to lug about or indeed find stuff.

Perhaps you should bring it to the Fairmile on Friday and we could all have a look!

Think I will get a copy too.
On the subject of books, all '82-'01 owners should get a copy of " How to understand, service, modify Corvette fuel injection and electronic management "
It will tell you everything you ever wanted to know, even if its only for interest value!
Ecklers do it, and the ISBN is 0-8376-0861-9 It covers L83 L98 LT1 LT4 LS1 LS6 ZR1
I thought I knew pretty much how the C5 EMS works, but this filled in all the gaps!
Well worth a few bucks IMHO.
