Seeing as the Euro is so strong at the moment, what is the feasibility of selling a car privately in, say, Germany?

I guess I would have to find a dealer willing to take it on SOR, but as my car was first registered in Germany anyway, I wonder if it could be the way to go?

Interesting thought David... I recently noticed the high euro prices being asked for C5s in France. scratchchin

e.g. approx 23,000 miles, 2003 LS1 coupe, 32,000 euros (i.e. just under £27k):

or another 2003, 30k miles, nearly £31k!

Don't panic, only to buy a new one! biggrin

I am going to contact the dealer (non-official GM) who sold me my car. It's got to be worthwhile I reckon.

When selling my C6 I was contacted by a Swedish dealer and had calls from France and Belgium. I know of someone that sold their car in Denmark.

All have them have said that with weak pound to Euro the cars are cheaper for them to buy in UK rather than US (including taxes).

You are right- the value in a new one is stunning at the moment. We have just bought one in the States and sold it over here for £55k- brand new 08 in blue. There are stacks available in the States and dealers will take good offers to clear them before the 09s arrive.

I go to Germany quite a lot, and have seen huge variations in prices on new C6 Z06, from 74000euros up, best prices that I found were in a GM dealer near Detmold.

The other reason you could possibly get a good price is because the general run of the mill cars in Germany all have very high mileages as standard because they drive all over Europe.

I sold my Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quadcab through Pistonheads a couple of months ago to a guy from France. He was a dealer and bought mine 'cos it was stunningly cheap compared with buying one in France!

We've been doing lots of SVA's on imported Euro cars ie: Porcshe, BMW's even Bentley GTC's, imported from the states for customers purley as a comodity to be sold in Germany, Spain etc., because of the week dollar against the Euro, if that makes sense!!!

It does totally!

A US Z06 would cost about £47k landed and taxed, it could definitely sell for a lot more in Germany...
