Is it just me, the time of year, or some other reason that Caterham are running their stocks low?

Catreham have been running very low levels of stock for some time now, seems they're expecting their suppliers to hold the stock and therefore the cost for them....not all suppliers are able / willing to do this hence shortages occuring and with lead times and minimum order quantities coming into play it can take quite a while for the customer to get their parts.

Couldn't agree more guys. We have a Caterham Hire business and I'm now having to hold stock of most frequent or potentially business stopping items. Last year it was sumps which is pathetic given how exposed they are. We now hold spares. This year it's wndscreens. Our SV finally gets a new one after notification on 17 march!!!

I find the parts guys really nice but there's nothing they can do if they don't have stock. Not impressed.

I had heard a rumour that they ran down their stock levels prior to being sold, it makes the books look a little better.

Funnily enough the part I wanted that was out of stock, is back in stock today. Maybe they are stocking up again.

Can't see how that would work. The value of stock held is a business assetsmile

Yes, but it's an asset that's not doing much other than swallowing up the working capital. It's not like there's anywhere else the customers are going to go - they'll just wait patiently for the back orders to come in. I too thought the sale might be keeping the cheque book locked away.

There are alternative sources for quite a few Caterham parts, for instance if it's engine related then go to Ford / Rover as appropriate...I remmeber being lazy and ordering a temp sender from Caterham once only to find it was triple the price of my local OEM garage!

I bought my first 7 in 1998. Back then Caterham were always short of parts stock and often some quite major items. From experience I would say that not a lot has changed over the years, better or worse.

Does anyone know of an alternative source for the Rear Fog Lamp lens? Mine shattered and I need a new one, but guess what - they are out of stock!

Thanks all.

It's always worth trying these guys: http://www.redlinecomponents.co.uk/
They stock a lot of Caterham stuff and often have parts that Caterham haven't.

The car builder solutions catalogue has some which look similar: http://www.nfauto.co.uk/download/catalogue.pdf

Don't blame me if they don't fit though;)

Landrover Defender item. Along with the reversing lamp and the orange front indicator lenses.

Most things seem out of stock at the moment. confused
Just tried to order a couple of drive shafts.....Out of Stock.

Also is it me, or is the new online store painfully slow to load?

Another annoying recent developement is that the biiling address has to be the same as the card details. I have an address in U.K. and a bank account there which I sometimes like to use, but get stuff sent here to Spain.
I suppose the next thing will be they'll only deliver to the cardholders address.

Last time I ordered parts, my delivery address was apparently too long for the new system.
It all got very complicated. It's supposed to be a fun experience, but I dread getting the wrong parts now.
Saying that, my last delivery was correct!
Wish I could say the same for the four before that!

Thankfully I don't need many more parts, and I will not be building another.

Well that's my moan over for the weekend! tongue out

The F1 qualifying was eventfull wasn't it. Go Button Go!

Something I have done to fix this in the past:

Log on to tinternet banking, change your billing address to the one you want the delivery made to, place your order, go back onto tinternet banking and change your details back.

Sorted.
