Whats the score with this car, does anyone know what it all about:

It been advertised for ages now and no takers!! It was also advertised at around 15,999 a couple of weeks ago.

The market for Caterhams is small; the market for highly modified, highly specialised Caterhams is even smaller. It is no surprise that someone would struggle to determine a "fair price" and struggle to sell a car like that. I'd imagine there are only a handful of people who'd be seriously interested in buying it.

Ok Perhaps the title is misleading, i should have gone along the lines of 'why is this caterham fluctuating in price so much'. And it was a question hence the two question marks not a statment. I was putting it to the PH caterham community to share views on this good-badly modified car that has been advertised for sale for months and years in other places (i remember it with a F3 wing on the back),and fluctuated in price so much.

Just bought this, currently with Nigel Keats at Cougar for recommissioning, some of the engineering and ideas on it are interesting for sure. No history with it so if anyone knows anything about it, it would be good to hear from you. Didn't know it had an F3 wing, might explain why the cage is like it is. Buying it was a leap of faith really, as there is no guarantee it will be any quicker than the one I've just sold.

Yes, mine sold a day after I dropped the price, lost a chunk of money compared to what I'd spent on it, but I guess that's race cars for you. Good luck when you come to sell yours, I suspect, like me, you'll find it an eyewatering experience - had an offer of £7K for mine, fortunately it was after it had sold, otherwise I think I might have passed out 
But I'd miss out on the mental anguish of spending lots of money on a car without knowing whether it will be competitive. Your R400 is a quick car, just not quite as quick as my old Caterham at Anglesey 
BTW, was it the CSR you went to see at the Birkett Relay you bought? Or am I confusing you with someone else, apologies if so.
