As far as I know you can import anything over 15yrs old into Canada. Does anyone know if I can import a 15yr old Caterham, take it apart, and them re-build it with slightly more modern parts?

If you can find a 15 year old caterham that hasnt been upgraded then it belongs in a museum smile

But yes, eminently doable. You won't get "modern" rear suspension but you don't get that in most of the cars today ! But almost everything else is upgradable.

Chassis might be a bit tatty, not sure when the powder coat issues stopped. Although you will find many 15 year old cars have been rebuilt a few times. It's what we do for fun smile

Although if you are asking if you can *legally* that is a different matter smile

Have you spoken to the 7 dealers in BC, they of Hayabusa fame ? Forget their name.

There's an article in thios month's Low Flying by a Canadian Caterham owner. It looks a fairly new version of the car to me.

Hi,

I bought an 90' that had been imported by a car dealer into Canada from Japan. If you are in Ontario....just watch out for the smog test!

Good luck!

The Canadian Forum http://usa7s.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?s=37ddc72c8c0... will be able to sort you out. When we did the USA2005 run there was one couple from Vancouver who joined us, there are a number of Caterhams in Canada. Unsure if they came via the original US distributor in Colorado, or a Canadian specific one....

International Caterham dealers http://www.caterham.co.uk/assets/html/internationa... doesn't show one in the east of Canada, which may not be an issue...
