Went up there today to have a look around at a couple of cars that caught my eye. The one I really wanted to look at was a blue dry sumped 1600k supersport.
First impressions of the car was good. Unfortunately the sale exec wasn't in so no test drive could be arranged. The chap that showed me around thou didn't know a great deal about the cars, but he did try and answer the questions I asked. We looked around the car for a while and noticed its had a spray job so the body is pretty mint except from a missing badge as there were 2 holes where it used to be, it also has no reg. The question I would like to ask is when the chap started it up it was very very tappety, is this normal for a supersport or is it a sign of a very worn top end. As it warmed up it did quiet down but it was still tappety. I will give Greg the sales exec a call as I was told he was the man to talk too.
I am off to look at a couple more on Monday. One is a 1600 supersport with vhpd throttle bodies and dta ecu. I spoke to the seller and he said he's never had it on a rolling road but he reckons it could be pushing 150+bhp has anyone else got a simple set up and confirm there rough bhp.

It's impossible to know what it's giving without a rolling road, and even then the figures vary.
Go on a test drive, and see if it feels fast enough for you
I was recently followed on a blat by a chap who said his car has 170 bhp and he told me he was just able to keep up with me when I put my foot down. Needless to say he was surprised to hear my car is a 125 bhp Roadsport. It just goes to show bhp figures often mean nothing.

A standard 1600 Supersport is quoted at 133bhp so 150bhp is attainable with throttle bodies.A standard exhaust would probably stifle some of the potential though. A decent exhaust (4-2-1) is worth having.

If it's the car I'm thinking of at Midland you may want to check out it's history. Blue, unregistered but with patina rich interior. Surprised the chap never filled you in as they were quite open about it whilst I was there. Maybe he didn't know.
Could quite possibly be the one. I did query it being an ex racer and he wasn't sure at first but after asking a couple more questions he suddenly come with, oh I do remember this car I think it was a ex academy. Like I said in the op he didn't know a great deal about any of the cars. As for being in-registered all of it's 3000mile could easily have been done on track.Adam

If it was an academy car then it would be registered. I think it was used as an experience car somewhere. Can't rightly remember. Before anyone suggests otherwise I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just wanted to tip the op off. I'm actually looking to buy an ex racer in the near future. Adam

An ex racer don't put me off, unless it been crashed or neglected, infact I am looking at a ex academy tomorrow. But thanks for the tip.Adam
