Having recently been bitten by the track day bug I am looking at making the car more track friendly and one area where the car can be improved upon is the addition of an LSD. The car is currently fitted with an open diff and does tend to spin the inside wheel (Duratec circa 230 bhp.

My initial research had come up with two possible options.

The Titan which is the most common and is fitted by Caterham or the Gripper which is a lot less common however is slightly cheaper to buy and subsequent services are also a lot cheaper due to the plates being significantly cheaper than those for the Titan.

Is the Titan worth additional purchase cost over the Gripper or are the both very similar in performance and reliability.

Appreciate response from users of both.

Thanks
Ross

Speak to Phil Stewart at Road and Race Transmissions. He can give you the full low down on expected wear and potential consumables with the Titan.

Both work equally well in competition use, so go with whatever suits your budget.

For what its worth I've got the Titan in mine & 5 hill climb events in no-ones beaten me yet.....

When I say the gripper is slightly cheaper I don't mean by a lot (less than £50) and would prefer to have the better performance and reliability than a slightly cheaper product.

Personally I can't see much incentive to go with the lesser known in the world of 7's Gripper for a saving of £50, the choice as they say is yours...

( I would point out that I do know of one 7 owner who was not impressed with his Titan as its pre-load went west after a few uses, mine has been used hard since installed & has set two national hill climb records in the last few weekends, so far so good)
