I have a problem with my horn...

Whilst arriving home this afternoon, I had occasion to give a fellow motorist a couple of beeps on the horn - as a "thank you" more than an admonishment (for a change).

The sound that came out was more that of a strangulated duck than the usual two-tone beep I expected. Also, as I pressed the horn, the revs dipped and I'm sure the lights dimmed slightly too.

Short circuit? Horn full of water? What?

clean the contacts on the horn and also the mounting nut and bolt for the earth (Return).

Sounds like it was trying to pull to much current if the lights dimmed and the revs dropped, as said above check all the connections at the horn and at the fuse box/supply. If you have a ameter or clampmeter you can check what kind of current it is pulling.

Water in the cone maybe. That's the problem with electrics, you get intermittant problems a lot.
