BMW Diff Flange plates

hi all,
I'm about 50% through the build of my first 7 and loving it so far. I have a Roadsport SV 175 in plasma blue and have encountered my first problem/question. I have the BMW diff (with new carrier) and removed the supplied flanges to fit the Caterham driveshafts. My question is this; Do I utilise the two thin rings which are fitted to the BMW flanges and fit them to the Caterham shafts or just discard them as per Caterham's advice. I have tried them on the driveshafts and they fit perfectly and look good when fitted. Without them, the junction where the driveshaft goes into the diff looks a little too exposed for my liking.
Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this.
