I have finally fitted my Stack mechanical oil pressure gauge. However, at idle it is giving me a reading of 5 bar pressure at cold idle. I'm pretty sure this is a bit high, my old electrical one was quite a bit lower than that.

Has anyone seen pressures this high at idle? I havent let it warm up properly yet, just wanted to get a few opinions.

Cheers!

what does the pressure do when you increase the revs when cold?

When cold, say overnight, my oil pressure is at least 4 bar, possibly 5. Once hot, pressure is about 2 bar and 6 bar at speed.

Cheers chaps.

Took it for its first run since new years day. Once it was warmed up, oil pressure settled at about 2.5 bar at idle and was up to 5 under load. I am a bit happier with that, I think I was just a bit surprised to see it that much higher

It was also the first outing for the GoPro, mostly traffic unfortunetly though. An Aston coming the other way sounded nice as he dropped a cog coming passed smile

my DVA 1.8k VHPD is 6bar at cold startup, falling to 5 bar after a few minutes. Hot idle is about 2.8bar with 5bar under load. Yours sounds fine.
The mechanical gauges are so much more accurate than the electrical ones that trying to look for a comparison between readings is pointless.
