So someone who I believe is an AR in the L7C goes to the Caterham showroom clearance and upon very prompt arrival heads for a full SLR type roll cage for sale.

Some of us, myself and another well known Club member present on the day have been trying to find one of these for our cars for months.

So its 9am and this guy is standing next to this thing holding onto it telling us its his.  Turns out he had not paid for it, but in the spirit of a Gent, I do not try to pip him.

Transpires this bloke never even wanted the cage, and was into it only because he knew he could turn a quick and dirty profit on it.

Seems he turned down an offer of £300 made to him on the day, and now appears to have sold it – See http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=226379

I have to say, Club slagging threads aside, that if this is the kind of people who are given positions of authority in the running of the L7C, then I’m really glad I threw the towel in 2 years ago.

The individual should be well and truly ashamed of himself. He has no place in any “Club”

I noticed that for sale thread and the reply stating that he got it at the Caterham sale. I personally thought it was a bit off but there's nothing you can do about it.

So if this chap hadn't pipped you two to the cage, how were the two of you going to settle who got it?

It's always baffled me why folk must air their dirty laundry in public, and garner the opinions of others dispite reaching their own conclusion already. At the end of the day, apart from causing some friction for those involved, it will acheive nothing.

Not sure what his position as AR really has to do with anything because as I see it there are three people who wanted it for various reasons.

I should also point out that ARs are not give their position by the clubs MT. They are normally appointed by the people in their area and the MT generally accept their appointment unless there are circumstances to block that appointment. Democracy at its very best.

What a bizarre topic for a thread. Perhaps buying things for a profit should be outlawed.

I think the "other well known club member" here is me, although I was not that miffed as by then I had 95% decided to go with a roadsports cage.

Depriving other members of a club (of which all are members) of something they want at a bargain price for the personal gain of an individual who treats the item as a commodity is a moral issue nothing else.

I have to agree the morals demonstrated here do appear to have emerged from a pretty low place.

Do us all a service & 'NAME AND SHAME'/post a photo of the AR concerned, so we all know who he is.
Saddo's like this ought to shown up for the kinda person they really are.

That really is bordering on harassment. Oh hang on, it's you. Should've guessed.rolleyes
Were you there?
Did you also miss out said cage?
Are you a club member?
Since the answer to all these is a resounding "no" why not STFUAPO?

Surely this drivel is aimed at the L7C so why not post it over there?

This all sounds a bit childish to be fair, what exactly has this got to do with Pistonheads?

From the thread on Blatchat, there's no information other than he's got someone who wants it. How do you know he didn't just buy it for a friend who already wanted one?

Either way, as said before, the early bird catches the worm.

Apparently, according to the wisdom (and I use the term in its loosest possible context) of S47, gjohns is "doing us all a service" by whining about someone else bagsying an item before he got it.
I missed out on a couple of posters that would've looked quite nice in the garage, and I saw them first and everything, and it's so unfair and someone else who already had two AND a baseball cap bought the one I wanted even though I know they don't have a garage big enough and my cat died. And.....and.......
Who do I sue?

But the information you require is already present in the OP's link to Blatchat.

Try reading before ranting, S47.

Really?
And from where does your "interest" stem?
The club, the Caterham sale and the AR concerned have absolutely nothing to do with you and vice versa.
