Having just fitted my aeroscreen in place of the windscreen I'm not so impressed, although the car is noticeably quicker I have two issues really:

1. It doesn't stop much wind buffeting (cough compared to say cough a Westfield one on cough a previous car....)

2. Centre mirror is so big I find it blocks the view forwards on some bends, specifically making it difficult to place the car on a left hander.

Any suggestions? Has anyone tried a different screen, and/or changed the centre mirror on the Caterham one?

Cheers,

just remove it... I had the same problem, stared into mirror when wanting to place left front wheel. So i removed the damn thing as its useless anyway ( and remember a van doesnt have one either..) and just use two side mirrors

Keep it, but lower it by removing the intermediate rod, like I did, for the reasons you have mentionned:

Just read page 2 of following thread, or at least if you can't read french , see the pictures !

Regarding point 1) How tall are you? I.e how much of your head pokes up above the line of the aeroscreen? If lots, and you want to keep the aeroscreen, you could get the floors lowered. There is a clear aeroscreen out now if you would consider your visibility compromised by lowering the floors. This is offered by one of the after-market Caterham bits suppliers. Or Caterham themselves sell race aeroscreen (seperate driver's and passenger's) that is meant to offer more protection from the wind.

About 5'10" and my car has the standard, not lowered floors. However I do quite like to be up high in a car (the opposite to many owners who fit the lowered floors becasue they want to be lower in the car..!) so lowering the floors is not an option for me.

I think I will take it off for the time being and see what it's like to live without it, but might end up doing that mod to lower it as suggested earlier (if I could be sure that I would do as nice a job..!).

Thanks for help all.

I use a Racetech centre mirror, which is significantly smaller but still functional.

Does the race tech fit on the poppers Sean?

You can also go taller to lift it out of the blindspot. This also helps if you have a Caged double diagonal FIA bar as it gives better rearward visibility

I have three Racetech mirrors permanently mounted to my aeroscreen, with the centre mirror mounted between and behind the poppers. Here is a photo:

I went for a blat yesterday minus centre mirror and visibility (forwards...!) is much improved. Have a feeling I would still want the centre on track though. Does the Racerech mount pick up the same holes left by the Caterham one? It looks like it might be about the same diameter but in your pic the mount appears to have one hole at the front and two at the back whereas min is vice versa. If the mount was turned 180 degrees it looks like it might just drop into the existing holes.

On a similar subject, my right hand mirros has gone all floppy (it must be getting old) and there is no obvious way to tighten it up - am I missing something?

Cheers,
