Hi
Not owned my Caterham for long, 1.6K Academy spec, and will need sort a new MOT before taking it out of hibernation in the coming weeks.
Having never owned a similar car before anything to bear in mind for the MOT? I'm aware there are IVA additions you need to install for initial registrations but anything oddities for MOT time?
Has a high level rain light on the rear of the full cage for example. Is that a problem?

My car quite often fails on gaitors at the front. I think that this is partly due to the fact it lives outside.
I also have a 3/4 front numberplate. Never been an issue but some may find it one.
Never been that sure how many garages have tested it for emissions either, I think some find it a grey area due to the type of car.
Fine for the most point though. Oh track rod ends crop often for me too.

On the emissions, have a decent blat to the MOT place, get it red hot (ie thrash it!) and try to get the emissions tested as soon as possible after you arrive. Drop links on the rear ARB often come up on the advisory as having play but I'm pretty sure that's the design, not sure an Acadamy car has them anyway though. And have a look at the little rubber bits on the end of the front ARB and as said previously, the gaitors on the top wishbone rod end - mine failed it's test 2 years ago for those little buggers!
I also have a centre rear brake light mounted high on my roll bar, never been a problem. But I do take my 3/4 front plate off just to be safe!

Make sure you have a tell tale for it in the car, this doesn't have to be a light however. If it's the car in your profile picture it looks OK from the outside and if it went through an IVA the MOT will be a doddle. Thanks all good info. I think one of the gaitors is split on the front and can't recall from memory if there is a tell tale light in the cockpit for the rain light. Not even sure which one turns it on!
Mind you only had the car two weeks before putting in storage.
Will have a good look over the coming months.
Cheers
