We're going on a 10 day tour of Scotland in the summer and the other half is banging on about having a spare wheel!

At the moment, we've got the hole in the middle of the rear panel, but there are no attachments at the bottom for the carrier itself. How much hassle is it to get one of these fitted?

I was all for just going for it with some tyre weld to be honest (my road car doesn't have a spare wheel either).

This is the part we are missing, but there are clearly no holes to attach this into on the car at the moment.

Anyone got any experience with this?

When a car is built an option would be to have a removable wheel carrier if you want to have this as a option I believe some have had this added later but its a retrofit.

To be honest you dont need a spare wheel carrier the chances are minimal but do carry tyre weld

Having said that on my lotus the tyre wall shredded and needed a bit more than a can of foam

Thanks Toaster, I always keep a bottle of tyre weld in the car just in case.

To be honest, I always thought if the worst happened and we got a puncture, while it would be almost impossible to get a direct replacement, I can't imagine we'd have trouble finding one the same size.

I've recently successfully used my motorbike puncture repair kit on a car tyre, something like this one: http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/561472/Tyres/Pu...
I now intend to buy a second kit for the Caterham. Don't forget that if you carry a spare wheel you'll also need a jack etc.
