That's the standard roll bar, there is also the FIA roll bar as I have on my R500.

I think there is even another option for a taller FIA bar too.

On my car I have leather seats and the FIA bar is tall enough to give protection to me at 6ft 2 inch tall with my helmet on when in trackdays.

I guess it depends on what you what to know the height of the roll bars!

Apologies for the slight thread hijack, but I also have a question regarding roll bars. Is a particular spec. of roll bar required for Lotus 7 club track days. I am aware of the difference between standard, track day and FIA roll bars (plus full cages) but want to ensure I get something which would enable me to participate in L7C track days. I've tried looking on the L7C website but cannot find the answer

thanks in anticipation

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you need the FIA roll bar (or a full cage) for the L7C trackdays. (Although a few days are excluded form the rules depending on who's running them).

Thank you! I'm sure I read this somewhere but couldn't find it again.

I wouldn't even want the standard roll bar for the road never mind the track. The standard one is way too low and the gauge of the tubing is very narroow. Not quite sure why CC keep fitting it at all. FIA bar should be the minimum you should consider.

rofl Well that's the best driving advice I have ever heard, 'Camoradi' will be very grateful for that top tip. Yes don't get involved in any unintentional, unforeseen accidents caused by yourself or others. rolleyes

I've owned and driven various 7 style cars and often wondered what you would have to be doing to get one upside down.

Having said that, the nature of accidents is they are not predictable so I accept this is good advice.

I think I'll be going full cage to be extra safe

Not always the case unless you wear a helmet and 6 point harness (done up tightly). If not, the cage just becomes a very hard object that will hit you on the head, even in a minor bump.

The roll over structure needs to be a MSA acceptable roll over bar or full roll cage.

The standard roll over bar does not comply while the trackday / fia roll over bars do.

the relevant section is 2013 MSA Technical Regulations Competitor Safety (K) 1.6.1.

For sprints this is not a club rule but an MSA regulation, i know some people have got away with a standard bar on non L7C events but it's a risk both from a safety point of view and the risk of not getting through scruiteneering if they encounter a scruiteneer who knows the difference.
