Track day in wet

No not the usual question but more about is there any precautions you need to take on an open cockpit car when (as is the way in 'sunny' Scotland) its absolutely chucking it down? I bought a motorcycle over suit so I will be pretty much dry but thinking more of all the caterham and its inside's getting soaked.

Anyone had any issues before with this and any recommendations - short of keeping car covered when not in motion.

Be aware that if you have bucket seats they will form a puddle for you to sit in.

There's a reason they are called bucket seats after all.

OP - A half tonneau cover can be useful, or you could put the roof up if you're not going aeroscreen.

Yeh i mailed softbits about the tonneau cover and as for roof i could do that but do not have windscreen wipers which I imagine could be fun if its chucking it down

cool ta all i was more worried about the dashboard perhaps having issues but i guess the trick is to go faster so the rain doesnt touch you?

Just wipe it down afterwards and try to let it air rather than putting it away immediately.

Try to pick an open pit lane day (or keep in the dry and wait to go out if on a sessioned day), so you can choose when to join the circuit. Sitting in a pit lane queue in an open top 7 in the rain is not fun . A general WD40 over anything electrical is a good plan, plus I 'bag and tank tape' my ECU, it being a R300K with no protective cover as standard . Oh and if you are running with a windscreen keep a cloth handy in the car- due to the odd aero on a weather geared 7 the inside of the windscreen also gets wet, after a while you wonder why the wipers are not clearing the screen, only to find the water is on the inside
