Do any of you guys with S4 Lotus' also have a Caterham with an FIA roll cage?

I am setting my S4 Twin Cam up for racing under CAMS rules in Australia.

Under those rules the standard methods of attachment for a cage are all connections with base plates, which dont really suit a Seven. In order to use a cage similar to the Caterham FIA cage I may have to do a lot of engineering calculations / justification on the cage.

Fitting a Caterham FIA cage may get me around the engineering calculations / justification work.

If anyone with an S4 Seven also happens to have a Caterham with an FIT cage, I would appreciate any comments /measurement checks that could be done. Obviously the chassis of the S4 would need some attachment points welded in... its whether the cage is the right shape or not that concerns me.

Can't help sorry but that white S4 looks supiciously like my old one parked outside our house!

I would have thought the chances were fairly slim that you wouldn't need to alter the dimensions though and I would imagine that one small change loses the FIA rating and you're back to the usual process....

Here's the solution used on the McCarthy S4 thanks to Groundsky Photography...

Yep - sure is... I needed a side-on shot of an S4 and that was the best angled shot I could find.

Any more pics of the McCarthy car?

There is an article and more pictures on the NZ Classic Car site. Normally I'd include a link but the ipad's a real pain...
Bringing something forward to the windscreen pillar mounts would be good as they are mounting points for the body - don't forget to replace them if running without a windscreen!
