I confess to being disappointed in seeing Simon Cowell accepting delivery of a Caterham but I'm not exactly sure why I should feel that way. It's as if the brand is tainted by his ownership rather than enhanced. I don't yet have a Seven because I'm 'saving up' for one and expect to have the funds by Spring 2014. My immediate thought was "I hope, when I eventually get mine, that nobody thinks I'm copying Simon Cowell".
I appreciate it'll be good PR for the Company and everything, but I can't help feeling negative about it.

Fair play to him, love or hate him he works like a dog and I see no airs and graces about a guy out for a drive in his new car.. He's got a bit of a sweat on in pic #4 though!

Well he won't be joining the club after the slagging he is getting on the forum... Blatchat is no longer a nice place to be.... And it's quiet...

I wonder if membership is dropping on the forum and the club generally?

I would imagine he's pretty thick skinned. He'd have to be in his position.

I was just thinking of rejoining too...

I'm not surprised Cowell is being slated - we Brits do like to hate those who are successful after all. The article is cringeworthy of course, but that's hardly Cowell's fault.

Edit: Just had a look at the thread - it's pretty balanced between people who don't like Cowell saying so and people happy that there's another Caterham owner. Not as one-sided as I expected.

Why disappointed? Caterham's aren't just for us plucky Brits, braving it out against our rubbish weather with just a bobble hat on for protection after all!

I don't know why I was disappointed. I have nothing against the fella. He's a Brit with a solid work ethic and in this instance I admire his choice in motor car. I guess it was a knee-jerk reaction with no sound justification. In fact, when you consider his options, it's reassuring that he chose a Caterham.

I don't think so. Blatchat is working just fine as far as I am concerned. It is still a great resource to tap into (POBC) and has more activity than this section of pistonheads.
