What about an FIA bar.

Spec looks good. Is that the Supersport R or 140 bhp Supersport.

Just checked Supersport R.

Brake upgrade.

Starter button.

Many will say 13" wheels but on the SV I prefer the 15" option.

I agree with the comment above regarding the FIA bar.

Nice spec OP.

OK I'll say it then - 13" wheels smile

Agree with big brakes and start button.

I'd probably lose the service plan and get a local independent to do it if there is one near you.

It's a normal 1.6 Sigma Supersport.

Didn't think I'll need the FIA bar since is 95% a road car. Is that the one the academy cars have? Nightmare to get into the car with that thing.

Opted for the 15' wheels - although tyres are more expensive (apparently) the car rides higher and it's better for touring which is what I'm into.

I get a starter button "for free" with the Supersport.

I'm sure you guys have seen this already (being the die-hard Caterham fans that you are) but they are introducing new wheels for 2014 since the old style alloy wheel manufacturer went out of business - the grey ones not the Mini-lights.

These are the ones I'm having on mine.

On their website:

No, in the Academy we get a full cage. There are 2 types of hoop roll over bars, standard and 'track day'. The standard one is not as strong as the trackday but this doesn't prevent you from doing trackdays (except those arranged by the Lotus 7 Club as they mandate the trackday bar).

I have to say that is a lot of cash for a 140 Supersport.

The Caterham options list is a dangerous place for your wallet!
4 years ago the only way I could keep my Roadsport 125 under £20,000 was by building it myself (the only reason I bought new anyway) and only paying extra for paint, seatbelts and Tillets.
The same car is £2000 more now.

Supersport is a good move! I got mine in June after playing with the spec over and over again before I ordered it, but that's part of the fun! Spec yours exactly the way you want it mate, it's YOUR car. Personally I didn't go for the carpets/armrests/leather padded seats. There's really not much point in trying to make it comfortable... The only advice I would give you is go with the 13 inch wheels and unless you're within a few miles of a Caterham dealer, find a good local specialist to look after it. Whatever you decide, you'll love it. Enjoy.

£32k gets you a lot of used Caterham. It's not as if the design has changed a lot in the last 5 years. You can get a 2006 CSR for that, and an R400.

I'd let someone have both of mine for £32k if they wanted them!

You're definitely right about that. I think I'm happy about everything apart from the wheels now - everyone's opinions seem quite mixed.

I think whether I go for 13s or 15s they will be in that new style I linked earlier. I quite like those.

In regards to the 3 year servicing, I'm quite close to Caterham Crawley (<45 mins) so it makes sense for me.

Just my thoughts:

£800 seems a lot for a servicing scheme. Not exactly a hard car to service after all.

Get the 13" wheels, the ride will be better ultimately. I've not hit any speed bumps with mine as yet and I've been over a few already.

FIA bar is a no brainer in my opinion. It's the one major safety feature in a car that is otherwise relatively lacking in safety equipment. Your already in for £30k, what's another couple of hundred smile

Also, have you considered building it yourself? Lots of fun if you've got the space.

How about scrapping the full weather gear and going for a half hood.

Half hood , bin the carpets , get an FIA bar . Ignore the black look fans- chrome looks so much nicer. Are you getting full harness? Highly highly recommended. And did I mention the FIA bar ?

Oh the FIA bar too....

Wow. Completely gobsmacked. I am so out of touch!

My kr500 kit was 29k back in the day. Hey ho time moves on. They've done well to move the price up so boldly!

Yeah added the FIA bar now.

Caterham are doing a normal hood for 2014 where the back window has a zip opening, so it sorta is a half-hood already. I'll get that.

13' wheels are winning if I can get the new alloys - if I have to have Mini-lites then I'll get the 15s.
