Chris Evans Reviews the 160

It came out quite well, and he seems to have enjoyed the experience, though I'm not sure if he's confusing lift-off oversteer with torque steer. I wonder whether the torque from the little Suzuki unit is enough to swing the nose.

When I read what he said about direction changes when applying power, it made me wonder how well located the rear axle is.
It doesn't have an A frame like the old style live axle Sevens had, and I have to say there is no sign of this in my De Dion Roadsport which has 50% more torque.

So it must be broken. No Caterham does that. It's not desirable or fun.

I'd rather hear a review of the 160 from someone who's at least sat in another Caterham, rather disappointment to read than Evans (despite his self-professed petrolhead status) hasn't even done that before!

Is he really that much of a petrolhead other than liking the way white Ferraris look? He didn't seem that handy on TG (Admittedly not a proper gauge of driving skill). Not sure he has a broad enough experience of other marques for me. Course I could be wrong...

I don't know- he is always banging on about cars, organises his own motoring events and rallies and spends millions of pounds on Ferrari's, given all that I was rather bemused at his car reviews (there are others on that link too) it doesn't read like he drives as much as he likes to portray IMO.

It's steered by the front wheels but driven by the rear right???

I've only heard of torque steer from front wheel drive cars ( usually performance cars) . Because of the differing length driveshafts the car tries to 'steer' left or right. All a rear wheel drive car can do is spin it's wheels, if the steering is effected it's not down to the torque of the engine.....especially in a Caterham 160. I'm no expert but I have owned a front wheel drive 400bhp car that really did torque steer and I have also owned 4 Sevens.
