Steering wheels - retrimming in alcantara

My car's a way off being built yet and I was hoping to get down to Caterham Midlands to try out a few cars to help make my mind up on certain options but I've bust the MCL in my knee so putting it off for now. I got told the other day that my car will come with a leather trimmed wheel as they've stopped supplying the alcantara wheel. Whilst nowhere near a deal breaker I was rather hoping for an alcantara wheel as coupled with gloves, gives imo a better purchase on the wheel. If I wanted to get the wheel recovered in alcantara who would you guys recommend to do the job? Pro's and con's of both?

I have taken delivery of mine and am currently building it! I was in the same position as you (as I think many new Supersport owners are). I really fancy a suede steering wheel and have been looking around to see if they are possible to purchase from somewhere else, after a lot of searching I've found you can buy them from Demon Tweeks & seven speed.

The suede steering wheels are great and have excellnt grip. However, be prepared to have a worn wheel with bald patches in a year of so, if used normally.

At that price it doesn't make sense to retrim, just buy one and keep a spare. What's the standard wheel size is it 260mm? I actually thought it was 280mm?

As you say they wear quicker but I think it's a small trade off, I expect it'll last a few years at least with my intended use.

My suede Momo one is 13 years and 15k miles old and is just fine. Cleaned witha suede brush a couple of time maybe to get rid of the polish from my thumbs.
