Looking for a Supersport or ??
Discussion
Well having decided I would like to take the plunge and join the world of Caterham ownership I've come to the conclusion that I would like to find a Supersport. I'm on the lookout for a low mileage car, options really just need weather gear (soft I know but live in north of Scotland).
The car will just be a weekend toy and occasional weekday blast, will not be used for commuting and I'm not that close to a track but may look to do a track day or 2.
I think the supersport would be the best bet but could possibly stretch the budget for an "R". Not looking for an SV as wont be used for touring.
If anyone is thinking of selling or may be selling later in the year please let me know, not in any rush and happy to wait for the correct car.

Supersports are great cars - I love mine
PH'er Kalibre46 is selling his. Probably worth dropping him a line.

Seen this one in the PH classifieds too http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...
Looks excellent although the dash layout is not from a Supersport. Perhaps this is because the carbon dash was specified as an option, however I thought even that had the Supersport layout. I may well be wrong though.

The only other one I've seen available is the one advertised at the moment, just not 100% sure on that one for some reason, not saying it's not a cracking car just not 100% sure it's for me.

What dash layout are you expecting? It looks pretty normal to me!Looks excellent although the dash layout is not from a Supersport. Perhaps this is because the carbon dash was specified as an option, however I thought even that had the Supersport layout. I may well be wrong though.

I'd say go for the 'half' hood and the showercap combo rather than the 'full' hood.Full hood is fiddly to put up, takes a long time, difficult to enter the car with it on and when you are in the car it is very boomy, gets hot and windows mist up.
Half hood is much nicer to use, quicker to put up (which is very useful when you get caught in a heavy shower), easier to live with, drive with etc.
All available from Soft Bits for Sevens.
Cheers

It's my car in the attached link and I can confirm its the normal Supersport layout! I can also confirm its an excellent example
It comes with the added bonus of all available 'weather' options .... aeroscreen, full weather gear, half hood - plus shower cap and full cover.
I do have someone interested in it but for the moment it's still for sale.

It looks a lovely car, don't sell it just use it! You're actually not far up the road from me.
Thanks! Where are you based? The reason its regrettably for sale is I need to free up some cash to put into a property - boring I know but hopefully I'll be back to Caterham ownership further down the line.
I've certainly enjoyed using it - I went to Le Mans in at a couple of weeks ago with my son as a last hurrah before it went up for sale ... aeroscreen for all 1200 miles, though I did wimp out and pack the shower cap! But we had an unforgettable trip, and a fitting end to my ownership of the car... - a couple of gratuitous pics from the trip:

I'm based 10 miles south of Preston so in the summer months I pop up through the Trough of Bowland then do a loop via Sedbergh, Hawes, Buttertubs Pass, Horton in Ribblesdale - got to be some of the best blatting roads in the country. Stunning scenery, superb quick, wide safe roads and if you time it right not much traffic - highly recommended if you've not already done so.
Jeez I'm gonna miss this car ...

Not considered the HPC as was looking for a car only a few years old. Out of interest how come they hold the value so well?
I guess they hold their value because they have a decent spec and due to their relative rarity [at least for a genuine HPC ]-I think Woodcote sports cars still have a couple for sale one on injection and the other on carbs . I quite like the whole old school thing going on with the HPC which is totally different from the supersport . Its a totally different experience with a load more torque on tap .My rationale is that I don't want to tie up a lot of money in what is effectively a weekend toy and I know I'm basically going to get my money back later on the down the line .
Although any Caterham will tend to hold its value over time better than most other comparable sports cars ,a newer model is still going to be a depreciating asset at the end of the day . If that isn't a consideration then I can see the attraction of a more modern Supersport or Superlight . It really depends what your priority is .
