Does anyone know the correct spring rates for a bike engined caterham weighing around 430/450 kg, mainly for track use with high power around 400/450 hp ?

My Busa engined car is really only used for sprints & hill climbs using road tyres, fronts 200lb & 130 lb rears.

For dedicated track use on slicks harder would be better but you'd preferably need someone who's a) fast & b) has experience on that one.

We ran 300lb fronts and 200lb rears on Griffs Busa when racing , using 3way ad nitrons .

No Comment Dave :-)

I would be leaning toward DSL's figures or softer.

I'm not sure what engine you have in the car to get down to that weight but I would be fitting 180 on the fronts and 130 on the rear.

My car is 460 on crossply slicks and no reverse box. Its on 180lb/130lb.

However as Dave K's comment shows springs need to be matched to dampers - if the valving is to strong then a stronger spring needs to be used. But then you can find yourself relying on the spring to much

I could go on....................and on...............

Thanks for the comments, I was thinking 200/220 front 130/150 rear proberly go for nitron as used them before and been happy with them.

Weight wise I am guessing around that figure considering my k series with full cage and passinger seat weighs 505 kg

The engine must be 20/25 kg lighter and the box inc bell housing is around 40kg

What are the spring rates on the current R300 race car ?

My Fury, which was track only, ran 200/150 IIRC.

Sub 500kg and Yoko 48s.

Standard Nitrons were pretty pants when I had them, speak to Simon at Meteor before ordering boggo Nitrons as he has lots of experience in this area.
