£13500-£14000 what can I get!?
Discussion
Okay, I've a budget of £13500 - £14000 to spend.
I'm looking for a Roadsport probably but I'm concerned about K-Series reliability (cooling, head gasket issues).
I used to have a Sprint years ago but that won't work for me now that I'm planning Le Mans in it next year - any ideas or advice?
Cheers
Chris

Nothing to worry about a K series in a 7 as cooling is much less of an issue. Had mine for several years now with extensive mods and has proved faultless - and a few years earlier I had an S2 Elise with HGF so it was it was a brave choice! K series much lighter than others so handling better place to start from - went on the scales at Millwod BBQ earlier today 557kg for my Roadsport with a spare wheel against 579kg for a Duratec R400 "superlight"...

You're quite right I was about to buy a Roadsport 1600 K-series, a lovely car it was too!
The failure of that deal had nothing to do with cooling or the cars condition.
I've just been doing some reading over the weekend and I'm reading lots about HGF with that series - I'm starting to understand that the problem is linked to the engines more mundane employment rather than in Caterhams.

Wouldn't be overly worried about HGF I have had K series for 15 Years with no issues and even if a gasket did go you just get fit one of the more robust replacement ones and no issue regarding cooling (other than the passenger)I'm looking for a Roadsport probably but I'm concerned about K-Series reliability (cooling, head gasket issues).
