Yellow Caterham P961 *** Possible Scam!

Hi,

I'm in the market to buy a used Caterham and came across one that appears to be too good to be true at the bargain price of £6,800. Email contact with the seller suggests that this may be a scam.

HPI reveals that the car was actually sold less than two months ago, and I've been able to find an old classifieds Ad for it at a much more realistic price. I suspect that the (potential) scammers have found this Ad and stole the photos and description for their own fake Ad. Since contacting the seller the suspicious Ad has been removed although they still seem keen to sell.

Does anyone know this car? I'm trying to contact the actual current owner to let them know that their cars identity is being used in this way.

haven't been for years, but looks like the photos are from outside the old caterham showroom in Caterham - and they've not been there for 12 months have they?

Scam this car was recently for sale at sevens and classics for around £16k (99% sure) its the same car. I used to own it 8 years ago.

Thanks Darumvej, yes that is definitely the same car although it is a completely different set of photos. How long ago was this for sale at Sevens & classics? An advert was posted on Autotrader and there has been a subsequent change of owner within the last 2 months.

Seven & classics had it for sale within the last 3 months, as mentioned I used to own it so was of interest to me, though when I owned the car it had flared wings on.

I purchased the car in 2002 from a guy called Richard who most people on Blatchat and a few on here know as RIF, it started life as a Roadsport with a 1.6 k series engine in it.
