Glad at that news but would also like to see the green cars back on the grid.

Hoping it's still a possibility thumbup

And for those of you who will no doubt post and say "I don't, I'm glad they're out, it brings the Marque into disrepute".....................sod offsmile

Yes, nothing to do with the road car division any more - and now seemingly dead in F1:

BBC - Caterham hopes fade as team's remaining assets go up for sale

"An initial auction of the team's assets, including 2014 chassis, is scheduled for 11 March"

Ah, back to the Lotus is not Team Lotus dayssmile..if the Caterham brand is on an F1 grid then I'm happy at least.

I think it was doing more harm to the brand than good so I'm not too sorry to see them gone.

Fwiw I thought that right from the start. More about Tf's tack record than the name, TBH.

I was prepared to give them a chance so I wasn't negative at the start. But, TF seems to be King Midas in Reverse.

I've always failed to see how a marque having a car on an F1 grid damages the brand, even if the car is at the back of the grid, and the team is known to have far less funds than most other teams.

Jeez I bet TVR (in their day), Morgan and Westfield would have jumped at the chance.

It wasn't so much the success or lack of success of the car but the carry on of the team and its owner.

F1 is not everything and some companies (such as Lola, Toyota or Lamborghini) may rue the day they ever went near it.

Eric, in all honesty I thought the team behaved with dignity and earned a bit of respect on the grid.

Any damage to the brand would more likely be caused by monthly newsletters from Caterham Cars promising this new Exige look a like, or that new aero concept car, this bike that bike. That did wear thin and the only product they still have is the one Graham Nearn salvaged.

I wonder how Graham is doing these days & what he makes of all that happened?

He could be a very interesting speaker at a Penn7's event I'd say

+1 I thought it would be a short term effort from day one and a detriment to the Caterham brand.

The problem is in the use of the word 'brand. M and S and Virgin are, Ferrari too now that they pimp the prancing horse to the highest bidder but Caterham isn't, despite people pretending it is , or should be . Caterham are a long standing small business which makes niche sports cars in some sheds. It works that way just as it does for Morgan.

Now there's a name worthy of discussion; particularly its forays into sportscar racing....

Yes - but sports cars are as cheap as chips compared to the dollarfest of F1 . Morgan have the 3 wheeler (160 equivalent ) and the Aeromax which is a variation on a theme a la CSR. Thanks God we possibly aren't going to see some daft Caterham SUV now ..To me brand value and similar guff usually means exploiting the good image of something great and applying it to something crap . See most Ferrari merchandise for examples.

So anyone know what Caterham are up to at the moment in terms of models? Are they just doing the tried and tested development of the 7, or is any of that other stuff still on the cards?
