I'm wondering what people reckon they'd do in this situation.

If looking for a car and one came up with just about exactly the right spec ...

... but ...

... you just couldn't stand the colour.

What are the options?

  • Hope that you'll learn to love it?
  • New body and bonnet and stuff?
  • Wrap?

I wanted a bright colour, the perfect car was up for sale in black.

I bought on spec, not colour. Added some red stripes and I like it now smile. I'd like to eventually go light blue or orange though.

Sit inside it, then you won't see the colour.

Been there looking for the right Caterham 7 HPC. My ideal was BRG with a yellow stripe, I ended up with Rubystone Red - same as the Porsche 964 RS.

The main colour consideration should be "can other road users see me?" as you're quicker than most cars expect.

The colour grew on me and was always a talking point! smile

I bought on spec too. My Superlight is silver with carbon wings. Now added a centre stripe and a few touches and I really like it. I don't want a bright car as it is a big OTT.

I was looking for The Prisoner colours and ended up with a fairly dark blue. Really like it now.

Mine (ex-Academy) came with a vinyl wrap. Seems to wear well and resist stone chips etc. However, there is no way to touch up any chips or marks and it did seem an issue when I was trying to sell last year.

I'd wait patiently for the right colour or at least a second choice colour you could live with. If the one you re referring to is particularly unusual I'd be concerned about reselling.
