My baby's come home

Built by me: 1990
Sold: 2002
Repurchased: 7th November 2015
Nice to have her back, had forgotten how small they are inside, brought it back with the roof up as somewhere between 2002 and about 2004 when the guy I bought it from bought it, the tonneau vanished. As did the build manual but strangely all my paperwork from the build etc still there.
In 12 years I only used the roof twice so a new tonneau on the shopping list as well as some POR15, a new rear wing (in red) wing protectors, new silencer cover, some wet and dry for the chassis tubes and to remove the laquer on the wheels, some alli polish and new mats.
Apologies now for some odd questions over the next few months.

Couple for starters please:
Rusty powder coated chassis in the engine bay: POR15, Smoothrite or ...?
Engine bay sides were sprayed in WD40 25 year ago they are now a mix of that, oil mist and grime, best way to clean up?
Engine was a nice deep red but is now rusty and burnt around the manifold/plugs best way to clean up?
Thanks Guys

I would recommend epoxy mastic for the chassis rails, if it just needs touching up. It's probably best to leave the oily grime on the aluminium, after all it's been protection it for years if there's no bubbling on the other side
I wouldn't bother doing anything on the engine until you need to take it out.
If you find the rust has got a hold in the chassis, remember, you can send it to arch for refurbishment and a re-skin, then you'll have a car like new

Know what you mean about the ali but it just looks so grubby.
The ali castings (water pump etc) on the engine are white (nice contrast with the mucky sides) so need a clean too.
Plan is to remove both manifolds to improve access then clean up the side panels, chassis and engine block and repaint/protect. Not to concourse just so it looks presentable. I hate a mucky engine bay.
Been reading about POR15 and I doubt it's the right stuff for the chassis as it won't stick easily to the powder coat so it's another option there.
All suspension is coming off for a de rust and repaint. So: wire brush and wet and dry or take it to a blaster?
