Hi all,

Since the weather was slightly better here today I decided to take the Supersport out for a drive / get some petrol (a new experience trying to fill it up without it clicking off or the petrol dribbling out!)

Driving out of a 40 limit into de restricted I decided to give it some beans, a second later I realised the throttle was stuck on! I put the car into neutral and turned off the engine, as it was bouncing off the rev limiter. As the road was quiet I managed to coast into a convenient lay by.

Checking the peddle, it all seemed fine, but the throttle body assembly seemed quite sticky though, when pressing it by hand. I have put some silicone spray on it now and its eased it enough to drive back home slowly.
Is this a normal problem?

Regards

James.

The throttle cable gets a bit sticky sometimes, on my k-series at least. Gets your attention pretty quick!

Over tightening the air filter clip was often the cause of a sticking throttle, on the K engines fitted with the plastic throttle body.

I'd disconnect the cable and see if it's the throttle body that's sticking or the cable.

If it's the cable, you can just replace easily enough (and to be honest, I'd get a spare too, I've had a throttle cable snap and it's a right pain).

Thanks guys,

framerateuk, I had a quick look after it occurred when I returned home, it seems the throttle body its self thats sticking, It does seem slightly better after some silicone spray
