Brake Pressure Sensor
Discussion
Evening,
I am looking to add a brake pressure sensor onto the C400 and connect this to the Vbox system for comparison against tutors laps to understand where improvement can be made.
Does anybody have a good reliable system that works with the Vbox and what sensor have you used?
Thanks

One of the weaknesses I've found of the Vbox world is the lack of suitable analogue sensors available and the help from the guys on finding them. I've had a go at Aim temp and oil pressure sensors. The temp sensors are hopeless and need Op Amps to get a sensible voltage change. The OP sensor was better with a reasonable voltage change to measure. So maybe look at Aim brake pressure sensors?
What about this?

Output 1V-5V.
The problem is there is no data to calibrate absolute pressure. But if you are looking for comparisons of brake pressure, perhaps that's not an issue?

Assuming the Vbox has analogue inputs for 0-5V sensors then any 0-160bar or similar pressure sensor with a linear scale will work quite happily.
Most Variohm and P&G sensors will scale from 0.5V - 4.5V so worth checking there is some way to calibrate the sensor within the Vbox.
Vbox can deal with offsets and add formulas in a maths channel if you need to. I've seen solid state sensors work well in the brake line. Even just logging the brake switch is useful. My only word of warning is that the video graphics are delayed in the video processing (IIRC up to about 5 frames) so are best not used for serious analysis. Best to log and view on a graph. Most Variohm and P&G sensors will scale from 0.5V - 4.5V so worth checking there is some way to calibrate the sensor within the Vbox.

I haven't with a temp sensor yet but the principal is exactly the same, variohm may do a good solid state temp sensor 0-5v. Or I would just use a stack st991 as works well. Stack should also have the calibration.

Again need to plumb the sensor +5v, gnd and signal through via a micro input module.
Can interface may be the answer however if the ECU is compatible in order to log engine temps easily.
