anyone any experience of adding a lower rev limiter to their Emerald map - for friends use, etc.?
easy?

(not yet got the car or the emerald info, so not clear on how it can be done)

Very simple and user frindly to change the Rev limits (hard and soft) within the software when connected to the ECU with a PC. Emerald also has the facility to have up to 3 switchable maps so each one could have a different rev limit set.

ok thought so - is the s/w a free download?

As for other maps, I assume one needs to go to a engine tuning facility to have alternate ones - quite fancy a showoff one, with flames on overrun etc :-)

Yes you can go and get the engine mapped. The popping and banging is easily achieved without a mapping, the a setting in the software to do this, just a tick in a box!

The existing map can be copied and loaded and you can play with the copied version. You may need to purchase a rotary three way switch if you want to change maps on the fly whilst driving. I believe the software is free and downloadable off the emerald site. At leat the manual is.

My car has a rotary switch with three maps, a dry weather, wet weather (less peaky, lower rev limit) and a security map that makes the car undriveable. Useful to have.
