I tend to drive my 7 with the lights on, but om a recent trip on the motorway was aware that the low height of the 7 makes it harder to see from lorries etc. I was wondering whether others had fitted daylight running lights to the rollbar, so that they are bright and high up. As far as I can tell, this would be perfectly legal as there are no specific legislative guidelines on where they must be for retrofitted ones(though advice is given).

Anyone tried it? Any other ideas? (I have high intensity headlamps and bright led sidelights already).

I'd be very surprised if you didn't fall foul of Construction and Use regs regarding height of lights. Plus you'll blind any oncoming sports cars...

You could always fit a flag on a pole like a Sinclair C5.

rofl

mind you, I had a flag on a LandCruiser when I was in Oz for the same visibility reasons, but that was because of sand dunes and I don't think that's an issue for the 7

I do have a couple of LED DRL on the roll bar. I found them helpful but I can not comment on legality however never had any problem with them either from police or during MOT.

Anything increase visibility of the seven is a good thing.

(BTW, they also work as a cabin light if you have the hood/half hood on.)
