Here's my new 420R. It was built for me by DPR Motorsport LLP in Redhill and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome.

It has few bespoke touches such as:
620R nose cone
Uprated cooling system
Anodised suspension
Custom made tonneau (from Soft Bits for Sevens)
Blue tinted carbon cycle wings and rear arches

and many other little touches that DPR have recommended as a result of their experience and expertise...

The colour scheme matches my original Academy car from way back when (2011)!

I'm looking forward to many happy miles and memories!

Looks fantastic, great colour scheme and spec. Road and track use? Congrats.

I'm waiting on a BaT Donington Edition 420R - due April/May next year - can't wait.

Thanks. Yes, road registered, but very much track focused. The BaT Donington Edition will be epic I am sure!

Look superb, especially the SLR cage in flouro orange!

Could you elaborate on the 'little touches' made by DPR? I'm looking to get back in to Caterham ownership soon but not yet sure who I want to get to build the car for me...

DPR were extremely helpful in helping me determine the full specification when I placed my order and it's their knowledge built around the highly successful race team that makes all the difference.
They know what the common areas for shortfalls in design or failure are for the cars that are used hard on track.
Examples are, the uprated cooling fitted to my car and the changes made to cam friction washers and wiring loom etc.

I would wholeheartedly recommend speaking to David (team principle and owner); he's a great bloke and his team are excellent.
My car was built from start to finish by Ollie and the attention to detail is fantastic.

Great colour scheme choice!

This looks like a real track weapon. The clear rear lights look like a good option also.

Why the uprated cooling? My 220bhp R400D has the standard system which never gets too hot. If anything it runs too cool except in traffic and on track.

Are you planning further power upgrades?

Thanks smile I was thinking about Mick Attree but I will definitely give DPR a call.

The uprated cooling has more to do with the quality of the components used than the cooling efficiency I believe. I think the higher quality components result in better cooling (certainly on track), but it is not the only reason for the upgrade.

I don't have any immediate plans for more power; but I know better than to say never!

It really does look fantastic, great job my DPR.

But I have to ask as it’s getting to my OCD, what’s the piece of string from the tonneau to the roll cage for?.

I imagine it's creating a "tent" so water beads away, instead of pooling.

Good point, I’m sure that’s what it’s for then!

Never really noticed an issue with my tonneau on my 620R though when I have the aero on, it it’s not really been left for long outside in the rain, so it could still happen to mine too I geuss!

I had to park my car up this weekend outside over night in some heavy rain, but I have the screen back on now for the autum/winter months, so put the half Hood in instead, still kept it pretty dry!

Of course that’s not an option for a car like this with a cage, so can appreciate that a so,union like this might be needed!

Interesting. Your rad doesn't look any better made than the standard one, just bigger!

I can strongly recommend an upgrade to RBTBs. Better sound, more power of course, but much better behaved at low speed too!

Yep, exactly that.

It looks to be a well made piece of kit, although I have not yet tested in anger...it's certainly better than nothing and it fits nicely in to a small corner of the boot.

Definitely something to keep in mind! I haven't had much time in the car yet unfortunately, but I'll wait and see how it's low speed manners are...

Yep it looks good, I like the way it fastens to the top of the half doors too, always wanted a solution like that for mine, but don’t want to cut down my Nice Carbon Vinyl one.

Car looks great!

To answer the "what finishing touches" DPR offered question posted earlier in this thread, DPR have also recently built a bespoke 420R for me (see thread on this forum from about a month ago for pictures and spec) - here is my list (from memory) of the various finishing touches that DPR included (some at additional cost, some FoC within build price):

- suggested uprated cooling system (same as they put on their 420R race cars) (at additional cost)
- anodised parts (at additional cost)
- fitted poppers to the outside of my half doors so the tonneau fits perfectly over them (and made sure the poppers were black so not very visible!)
- replaced the fittings for the mirrors for the aeroscreen (upgrade on what Caterham supplied, to the same as what they use on their 420R racecars)
- uprated brake pads front and rear (at additional cost)
- flat floor setup (at additional cost)
- raised the seat on spacers to my preferred height
- additional insulation around footwells to prevent getting too hot
- high effort brake pedal (at additional cost)
- general attention to detail throughout the build.

Am sure there is other stuff they did that I haven't even noticed - give David a call and am sure you'll end up getting them to build your car after a chat with him!

Thanks Hugo! And thanks for jumping in with some clarification; I couldn't remember most of the additional work off the top of my head and have so far failed to dig out the invoice and build details!

From memory, I also had the Apollo Tank polished along with the exhaust (simply for the aesthetics) and I had the engine 'bench' run in and power tested.
