It all depend on how you intend to use the car but most people will use a 5w50 fully synthetic oil - a triple ester if you can afford it - for road use and ocasional track. If you are an 'all out' track fanatic you may benefit from something heavier such as 10w60, but that needs care at the warm-up. It is also worth saying that oils sold as 'Race' do not always have additives to protect against low temperature running and extended service intervals, so you will need changed them more often.

Level in the dry sump is not critical and it will throw surplus oil into the catch tank when over filled. Full is usually around the top baffle when warm. It flows back into the engine when not running so check after a run, and it can be done with the engine running.

If it’s the same, triangular tank, set up as my R400D I find it very hard to see the level when it’s running.

What I do is turn it off after a decent run, whip off the hood and nose and check it then, 2/3 minutes after stopping.

It’s usually 5-15mm or so below the top baffle. Once it’s cooled it falls away from there.

That level is reached when it’s got about 7L of oil in. I’ve never had to add any between changes, and since first filling, I measure what drains out and replace that amount.
