Assuming it a Sierra diff, It really depends what RPM limit they were using and tyre size you have but that sounds like a standard 3.62 diff. More info can be found here about possible ratios.

283 BHP from a 2L duratec is good and suggests it's probably not standard R500 and I'd guess at least that induction and exhaust have been improved.
I personally ran a 3.92 with a similar sort of engine which gave 130 ish top speed. Worked well for me on the tracks I used, but that's down to where, and how, you will use the car. At that BHP you probably looking at a real max speed of 135-140 mph.
