Rear boot panel
Discussion
Hoping someone can help.
My Caterham rolled out of its trailer at the weekend and was stopped by a wooden fence. Not too much damage done - just a bent boot panel. I am now wondering how this panel can be replaced.
I can see new ones can be bought. I also see some rather sexy carbon panels are available to. But how do I get the old one off and put a new one on? No joins anywhere that I can see from a quick look...
Any advice gratefully received. Also any comments on the carbon version.

I was kind of hoping I could do it myself. From the answers so far it looks like a job for professionals.
I wonder how the item below works...

I have e-mailed them but not had a sensible response as yet

Replacing the rear panel is a job best left to those who know what they're doing, just take it up to Arch and get it replaced. TSK will sort the paint, it's likely they originally painted your car.
The Westermann panel was originally designed as a replacement where panels were getting frequently damaged when used on track, so an easier and quicker fix. However, the cost of Arch/TSK will be similar to the Westermann panel so unless you have a real desire to go that route, stick to originality ... it'll maintain the value of the car better.

There's a YouTube video showing a 7 build by Caterham. It specifically shows the welding/sanding of the panel joint and the fitting of the rear panel around the frame tubes. Worth watching but I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you are a tinsmith, plater or fitter of body panels.
